Drawing on the history recordings,in-depth biographies, and community fieldwork, Roy Andrade and Kalia Yeagle bring to life the rich tapestry of sounds that influenced early twentieth-century music at the cultural crossroads of Western North Carolina, Southwest Virginia, and East Tennessee, a distinct region in in itself, where music flowed across boundaries and fostered a dynamic exchange of influences that laid the foundation for modern country music.
